1. Custom Critical Owner Operator

The FedEx Custom Critical fleet is made up of trucks that deliver urgent freight and packages the same day or the next day.

This could include essential things that need to be kept at a specific temperature (such as food and other perishables).

It will be a good opportunity if you own a vehicle or plan to buy one soon.

Below are the following must-have qualifications:

  • No more than three moving violations in the last three years.
  • No more than one traffic ticket in the past year.
  • Passing the physical and drug test from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
  • A valid commercial driver’s license for the correct class.
  • No record of an avoidable accident resulting in death, serious injury, or a payout of more than $100,000.
  • No record, ticket, or conviction in the last year for using a hand-held cell phone while driving.
  • No felonies were cleared up in the last seven years through parole, probation, jail time, or a court-ordered diversion program.
  • No DUIs or DWIs in the last five years
  • No misdemeanors in the last three years

2. Linehaul / Ground Independent Contractor

This job includes getting packages from one FedEx Ground location to another over long distances.

As a FedEx Linehaul Contractor, you must have your truck, but FedEx will give you a trailer.

Below are the qualifications to work as an independent contractor for FedEx Ground:

  • At least one year of experience driving for a business in the last three years.
  • Have no record of failing a drug or alcohol test.
  • Have a valid commercial driver’s license
  • Able to cross the border into Canada.

3. Home Delivery Independent / Pickup & Delivery (P&D) Contractor

As a P&D Contractor, your responsibility is to bring packages directly to local homes and businesses.

These contractors work along a specific route or set of routes and deliver packages to individuals and businesses.

You need to own or lease your vehicle and pay for all other business costs in this job.

Other requirements for being able to work as a home delivery contractor are:

  • At least one year of experience driving for a business in the last three years.
  • Have no record of failing a drug or alcohol test.
  • Have a valid commercial driver’s license.
  • Able to cross the border into Canada.

Becoming a Contractor with FedEx

In addition, you will need to fill out an online form specific to FedEx Custom Critical. The information asked in the form are:

  • Social Security number.
  • Last three years’ home address history.
  • Present Driver’s license number.
  • Last three years’ Driver’s license history.
  • Last ten years of Employment History.
  • Three years of history of traffic accidents, violations, and convictions from the last three years.
  • Criminal history
  • Military history
